Cruise in Kandagawa
Today I'm taking you on a cruise right through the middle of the capital. We embark under Japan's most famous bridge, Nihonbashi. The river cruise will give you a unique view of Tokyo and an opportunity to discover its history going back to the Edo period.
We'll pass through Akihabara, famous for its plethora of computer shops, Ochanomizu, with its surprisingly green environment, and so many other districts, each different from the next.

- Nihonbashi
Built on the orders of the first Shogun of Edo, Ieyasu Tokugawa, this bridge remains today the central point of Japan's roads. Renovated in 1911, it is made entirely of stone and serves as a landmark from which milestones indicate the distance from Tokyo.

- Kiyosu Bridge and Sky Tree Tower
Designed in the wake of the great Kanto earthquake in 1932, its elegance was inspired by the aesthetics of German bridges. It was so popular with Tokyoites at the time that it has become emblematic of those years of reconstruction.
The width of the river, reflected in the big blue sky, gives a real sense of escape. The view of the Sky Tree tower is unforgettable, and the steel structure of the bridge can be admired from an unusual vantage point.

- View of the business district
When you look up from the boat, it's as if you're navigating a river at the bottom of a valley. This magic is created by the skyscrapers of the Akihabara district that line the banks of the Kanda River. An impression you won't get anywhere else!

- Barges lining the Kanda River near Asakusa Bridge
For a long time, this area prospered thanks to its traditional restaurants and the artistic entertainment provided by the geishas. Today, the only leisure activity to have survived is canoeing. That's why there are so many barges parked and sailing along the river.

- Stone walls of Edo castle
Here you will see the intact remains of the stone ramparts dating back to the Edo period. Signs of the past are still visible, with traces of arrows, seals of successive lords and pretty hammered patterns. Have fun looking for them - it's a memorable experience that will immerse you in Tokyo's history.

- Railway landscape
Yet another original angle from which to observe a familiar infrastructure. The trains of Tokyo and its network of railways make up a unique spectacle. Train enthusiasts will love it!

- Ochanomizu Kiridoshi
The area around Ochanomizu was once part of the Edo castle defence zone. For this reason, the construction of bridges was prohibited. This restriction has preserved an abundance of vegetation. The landscape is so green that it's hard to believe we're in the very centre of the megalopolis.

#神田川クルーズ
今回は、都会のど真ん中"日本橋"発着のいっぷう変わったクルージングをご紹介します。
重厚感ある日本橋の街並をいくつもの橋をくぐり抜けると、電気街やオタクの聖地としても有名な秋葉原へ、そして緑豊かな、お茶の水渓谷を川から見上げたりと、街を歩くのとは違う視点で東京を堪能できます。
江戸時代からの東京の歴史を学べる川クルージングの旅へ出発！
・日本橋
江戸幕府の初代将軍 徳川家康の命により架けられた橋で、日本の道路の中心点。
現在の石造りの日本橋は1911年に誕生しました。道路標識で「東京まで○○km」と書かれている多くは、日本橋までの距離を表しています。そんな日本のど真ん中からこのクルーズは始まります！
・清洲橋とスカイツリー
関東大震災（1932年）の震災復興事業として計画された橋。ドイツの吊り橋をモデルにデザインされた優美な橋で「震災復興の華」と呼ばれています。この辺りは川幅も広く空も広々と感じられるので、晴れた日はとても気持ちよくスカイツリーを眺めながらのクルージングを楽しむことが出来ます。
また橋の下をくぐるので、ふだんは見ることの出来ない鉄骨を堪能できます。
・オフィス街の街並み
秋葉原周辺を船上から見ていると、神田川はまさしくビルの谷間にあって、両岸にビルがびっしりと並んでいます。
これぞ普段は見ることの出来ない水辺の東京観光！
・屋形船の並ぶ、神田川浅草橋付近
花柳界として栄えた神田川沿いの町は、かつては芸者遊びや舟遊びなどが盛んでした。
今はすでに花柳界は衰退し、かつての料亭は廃業してしまいましたが「舟遊び」だけは健在で、今でも川岸に屋形船が所狭しと並んでいます。
・江戸城石垣
江戸時代に作られた江戸城の石垣がそのまま残っている場所を見ることもできます。
石垣表面には、工事を担当した大名の刻印や、石を割った時の痕跡「矢穴」、石垣の表面を打ち削って細かな模様をつけた「化粧」を見つけることができ、江戸から続く東京の歴史を実感できます。 宝探し気分で石垣をよく観察してみてください。
・川から見上げる電車
神田川クルーズでは鉄道風景も見所のひとつです。
陸ではみられないアングルでじっくりと電車を眺めることが出来るので、鉄道ファンにはたまらないはず！
・お茶の水切通
お茶の水切通付近は、江戸時代外濠の中でも江戸城の防衛にとり特に重要な地点であると言われ、江戸時代を通じて橋を架けることが許されませんでした。そのおかげか今も木々の生い茂る、都心のまっただ中とは思われないほど緑豊かな風景を眺められます。
